The Parish Council

The Siddington Parish Council aims to serve the village:

  • Your planning applications – Cotswold District Council seeks comments on all planning applications within the parish. The councillors‟ local knowledge can highlight issues that may not otherwise be considered. However, the Parish Council does not have the power to prevent development going ahead.
  • The playing field – the land is rented from the Bathurst Estate but the Parish Council is responsible for the maintenance of the playing field and its equipment.
  • Liaison with other agencies – the Parish Council acts as the 'eyes and ears' of authorities such as Cotswold District Council and Gloucestershire County Council, reporting areas where maintenance is required (potholes, fly tipping etc.). There is also regular contact with the Bathurst Estate, Fosseway Living and local charities.
  • Support of community projects and groups – the Parish Council offers financial and practical support to groups such as the Parish Plan Action Group, Evergreens and the Village Hall trustees.
  • Queries raised with the clerk or councilors. These are passed on to the appropriate body if the council is unable to help directly.

Councillors

We are very thankful to our eleven councillors who all give much of their time on a voluntary basis:

Mr Nigel Deller
Mr Kevin Mace
Mr Alister Painter
Mrs Mary Painter
Mr David Parsloe
Mrs Ann Prosser
Mr David Prosser
Mr Chris Rumble (Vice Chairman)
Mr Neil Selby
Mrs Alison Wagstaff (Chairman)
Mr Denys Young

Councillors are elected for a term of 4 years and must stand for re-election (together with any new candidates) at the end of that period. If eleven or fewer candidates stand for election, all candidates are automatically elected. If there are fewer than 11 councillors, additional councillors up to a maximum of 11 can be co-opted at any council meeting.

The Council has a clerk, Kent Harrison, who is employed for five hours per week.

You are welcome
